Love the game, but just got this after trying to access the menu on my way to the second dungeon.

Wishlist for 3.0 (if it's planned)

Opening cutscene. Pretty self explanatory.

Show the currently equipped item in the UI. Even if it has to take up a little bit more playspace to do it, it goes a long way into making it feel like on the the official games.

Knockback from contact damage, to prevent from getting hit multiple times in a row from one hit. Would also allow you to be a little more liberal with enemy collision, since it seems that some enemies can be practically stepped on without taking damage.

Better attack animation. At least a sprite showing Zelda holding the wand in front of her, ala Link's Zelda 1 sword sprite, instead of just the wand appearing in front of her idle sprite.

Wand animation for all of the spells. In theory, she's swinging the wand to cast them, so it should still show the wand.

Boomerang spell returns to the player. Even if the original game didn't do that, the boomerang spell should act like a boomerang. It should also carry items back to the player instead of collecting them on its own. You can probably cheat it a little by having it collect the items when it disappears instead of relying on the item contacting the player.

Sprite flickering. I know it's a controversial thing, but it helps readability if, say, you use the fire spell when you're on the same line as two moblins when you use it. Instead of making the fireballs invisible, make the moblins and fireballs flicker.


All in all, this is a really good fangame. And I'm honestly not sure which of these, if any, GB Studio would allow you to do.

I have a broken save file.  I went into Shrine 5, but ran out of rupees so had to leave.  I save and quit back to game start, did the sidequest to get the coal to get 999 rupees, and now when I went to open my menu to give the NPC the vial of wind once more, I found out I cannot close either the menu or the map screen without getting a Kernel error and cannot proceed further.  

I have the same problem, except when it doesn't crash, it warps me to the upper-left corner of the screen. Which has me permanently stuck in the final boss rush, since I can't damage the witch.


And sometimes, I do get a Kernel error. Other times, I get colorful garbage and the music keeps going. Most of the time, it's a white screen with frozen music.

I may be stupid. I'm trying to use Super Ultimate Injector Beta to install the gb to my 3DS as a virtual console title. I cannot figure out how to get it to be in the color palette as shown here. Only custom/original gb pallettes. I selected the retroarch gambatte core and tried messing with it but to no avail. Anyone know how to do this?

Change the extension from .gb to .gbc

I thought that might be the case but I wasn't sure. I'll try it out.

Oh my goodness, it's correct now! Thank you! I hope that the download gets updated so people don't have to know to do that manually.

Stuck in the wall, having been pushed inside, transitioning up from the screen below.

For some reason enemies aren't doing any damage to me when I collide with them, only projectiles.  Happened after the second boss or so...maybe earlier, was still playing like things could damage me.  Third boss couldn't damage zelda. (playing on mGBA)
Any ideas?

Same problem, I’m invincible which makes the game boring :(


I love the update, have been waiting for it for years so it’s disappointing to have another issue I can’t work past. Looks & plays amazing though, looking forward to a fix :)

Thanks for the awesome update. I can confirm that it works great on both MiSTer and Analogue Pocket. 

Thanks for taking the time to create a video and review the update. DMG version has a few graphical bugs that need addressing.

I second this. As a big fan of SGB borders, I'd love to see this.

Or at least do one as a PNG that I can convert and use on the MiSTer FPGA. =)

You have comma splices in your text. Please fix them mostly by replacing the these comma splices with periods.

3 things to say:

1. The music is insane bro !

2. the stick don’t follow the player movement, that a bit weird

3. the player can’t move  diagonaly, like the original zelda gb game, and that not cool :(

The transition screen is too slow, and it would be better with a real transition, also like link’s awakening, but that not very important, I know how hard it could be

I think that's the web browser's fault, mine closes the entire tab.
You can probably remove the shortcut from settings somewhere, it sounds very inconvenient for every web game that uses WASD
